Fructal Boosts Sustainability Efforts with New Solar Power Plant in Ajdovščina

Fructal has taken a major step towards carbon neutrality by commissioning a new solar photovoltaic plant at its site in Ajdovščina, Slovenia, as part of its sustainability strategy

The solar panels, installed on the rooftops of its fruit-cut production facility and administrative building, are set to generate 650 MWh of green energy annually, covering 15% of the company’s total electricity needs.

“This project marks a significant move towards carbon neutrality,” said Fructal’s director, Goran Medić. He noted that alongside recycling plastic packaging and using plant-based materials, Fructal is committed to increasing its share of renewable energy while also rationalising electricity and heat consumption. “By adding this solar power plant to our existing cogeneration system, we are further reducing our carbon footprint.”

Fructal’s green ambitions don’t stop there. The company plans to build another solar plant on its storage and production sites in Ajdovščina later this year, which will produce 850 MWh of renewable electricity annually. With these additional measures, Fructal aims to generate a third of its electricity from renewable sources, significantly cutting its carbon emissions.

The company’s dedication to sustainability is setting a new standard in the region’s push towards greener energy.
