Novak Djokovic Wins Historic Gold at Paris Olympics

Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic triumphed over Spain's Carlos Alcaraz in a thrilling match, winning 7-6(3), 7-6(2) to claim the gold medal in the men’s singles final at the Paris Olympics

Played on the iconic Philippe Chatrier Court at Roland Garros, this victory marks Djokovic’s first Olympic title and makes him the oldest gold medalist in the event at 37.

This win completes Djokovic’s already illustrious career, adding to his record number of Grand Slam titles, Masters 1000 victories, and weeks as world number one.

By securing the gold, he joins the elite “Golden Slam” club, which includes tennis greats Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Serena Williams, and Rafael Nadal, all of whom have won all four Grand Slam titles and an Olympic gold medal

Djokovic expressed his joy and relief in a post-match interview with RTS, stating, “The goal was to secure a medal for Serbia, to reach the final, something I hadn’t achieved in my first four Olympics. I went all in, firing forehands in the crucial moments. That’s how I finished — with forehands.” With this historic victory, Serbia now proudly boasts two gold medals at the Paris Games.
