US and Slovenian Firms Partner to Tackle Plastic Waste

Protein Evolution, a US company pioneering innovative plastic recycling technologies, has partnered with Slovenian biotech firm Acies Bio to scale up the production of plastic-degrading enzymes.

Acies Bio, known for its expertise in microbial R&D and biomanufacturing, will use its advanced SmartRoute platform to efficiently produce the enzymes discovered by Protein Evolution. This collaboration aims to accelerate the transition from lab-scale research to full-scale production.

The partnership will support the rollout of Protein Evolution’s Biopure technology, offering a low-carbon and efficient solution to the global plastic waste crisis, Acies Bio has announced.
