Slovenia secured a spot in EuroBasket 2025 with a nail-biting 83-82 victory over Portugal in Koper on 25 November, overcoming an earlier 74-82 loss in Almada. With two games left in the qualifiers, Slovenia and Israel lead Group A with three wins each, while Portugal follows in second place.
Klemen Prepelič delivered a standout performance, scoring 31 points, including two decisive free throws in the final moments. While captain Edo Murić lauded the team’s resilience, Prepelič highlighted the need to improve offensive rebounding, with Slovenia conceding 14 in the first half.
Head coach Aleksander Sekulić expressed confidence in the team’s future, pointing to emerging young talent. As 2017 EuroBasket champions, Slovenia will aim to improve on their sixth-place finish in 2022 when they compete in the 2025 tournament, co-hosted by Cyprus, Finland, Poland, and Latvia.
