Filming for the fifth and final season of Netflix’s popular series Outer Banks has officially commenced in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The production began in late October and is scheduled to continue through mid-November, with Embassy Films managing the local segment.
The series, created by Shannon Burke, Josh Pate, and Jonas Pate, follows a group of working-class teenagers known as the Pogues as they embark on a treasure hunt, leading to adventures and rivalries.
The final season promises to deliver the most exciting and best season yet, according to the creators.
Dubrovnik is no stranger to global hits: the city famously doubled as King’s Landing in Game of Thrones, showcasing its medieval architecture to millions of viewers worldwide. This kind of international exposure is a huge success for Croatia and the wider region, boosting tourism and global recognition. It also underscores the potential benefits of further developing regional cinematography and supporting local film industries, which could create more opportunities for talent, investment, and cultural promotion across the Adria region.
