The Croatian Ministry of Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure has allocated €19.5 million for the modernisation of Perna Port, a crucial transport hub in Orebić.
Funded through the Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Cohesion, this investment underscores the importance of infrastructure in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
The port’s upgrade is expected to ease long-standing traffic bottlenecks in the region, which has long struggled with limited connectivity to the nearby Korčula Island.
The project, alongside the ongoing construction of the Orebić bypass, will be pivotal in addressing local mobility issues, boosting regional economic prospects, and improving the flow of goods and tourists.
As the island of Korčula faces increased demand for seamless connections to the mainland, this initiative promises both short-term relief and long-term prosperity for the wider region.
