Author Atina Perković To Publish Groundbreaking Book On Femicide

At the end of this month, Croatian author and doctoral candidate Atina Perković will publish her first book addressing femicide and violence against women in Bosnia and Herzegovina, titled “The Voice of Silence.”

Developed in cooperation with the Center for Criminalistic, Criminological and Legal Research, the book combines scientific research with authentic testimonies to shed light on a subject long silenced in society.

Perković, who works at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Canton 10 in Livno, uses her professional and academic experience to document the realities of femicide, presenting an analytical framework that goes beyond individual cases to examine systemic and cultural factors that perpetuate violence against women. Her work emphasizes understanding, compassion, and societal change, rather than assigning blame, and aims to open space for prevention and dialogue.

“The Voice of Silence” is dedicated to women who were silenced or forgotten, as well as those who continue to fight daily for their voices to be heard. The book highlights the persistent obstacles women face in BiH, from societal expectations to deeply ingrained prejudice, and celebrates every step toward empowerment as a victory over inherited silence and systemic barriers.

The book will be officially published on January 31, with its first public presentation scheduled for February 27 in Sarajevo.
