46-Kilometre Transmission Line Planned for Bosnia’s Largest Wind Farm

A public hearing is scheduled for 28 November to discuss the environmental impact study for a 46-kilometre, 2x220 kV transmission line connecting the Široka Draga wind farm to the Rama–Posušje line operated by Elektroprenos BiH

The impact study was prepared by consulting firm Tehnozaštita d.o.o. Mostar. The Široka Draga wind farm, located on the southern slope of Kamešnica Mountain near the Croatian border at an altitude of 1,517 metres, will have an impressive capacity of 125 MW, capable of generating around 400 GWh annually—enough to supply 95,000 households.

Plans include 19 wind turbines and about 20 kilometres of new roads. Project developer IMRES Smart Greenergy d.o.o. reported in August that it had signed consultancy and supervision agreements with KREBS+KIEFER International from Darmstadt and a construction contract with Roco-Commerce Livno.

The project’s total value is estimated at €160 million, with on-site construction alone costing €26.5 million, excluding transmission line expenses.
