Croatian Film Wins Palme d’Or: “The Man Who Couldn’t Stay Silent” Triumphs at Cannes

Croatian director and screenwriter Nebojša Slijepčević has won the prestigious Palme d'Or for Best Short Film at the Cannes Film Festival for his powerful war drama, "The Man Who Couldn't Stay Silent."

Slijepčević’s film was selected from over 4,200 submissions and competed against ten other distinguished entries from around the globe. Despite its international success, the film’s production team faced significant challenges, including the lack of support from the Montenegrin Film Centre in 2022 for minority co-production funding.

The win at Cannes not only highlights the film’s poignant narrative and exceptional storytelling but also marks a significant achievement for Croatian cinema on the world stage.
