Ryanair Begins Sarajevo Flights, Boosting Bosnia’s Air Connectivity

Ryanair has initiated its inaugural flights to Sarajevo, marking a significant expansion in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s air travel network

Ryanair has marked a significant milestone by inaugurating its first-ever flights to Sarajevo, thereby expanding its presence in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the capital city becoming its second destination in the country. The airline’s inaugural flight from Gothenburg to Sarajevo took off this morning, quickly followed by a connection from London Stansted.

In a move to broaden its European network, Ryanair will introduce additional routes to Sarajevo this week from Charleroi, Bergamo, and Memmingen, with a new service from Thessaloniki set to commence in June. This expansion brings a substantial increase in travel options, with Ryanair offering a total of 99,596 seats to the capital during the summer season.

The launch of these new routes by Ryanair follows the provision of subsidies by local authorities, aimed at encouraging the introduction of new flights to the city. While Ryanair has forecasted handling around 200,000 passengers during its first year of operations in Sarajevo and expressed optimism about the city’s potential, it has, for the time being, decided against establishing a local base.
