In the past decade around 500,000 citizens of Serbia have emigrated to European Union countries, with the largest number relocating to Croatia.
The migration reflects ongoing economic and social pressures at home, as well as the search for better job opportunities, higher wages, and living standards abroad.
Experts warn that such a large outflow of citizens could have long-term consequences for Serbia’s workforce, demographics, and economic development.
While Croatia remains the top destination, significant numbers have also moved to Germany, Austria, and other EU countries, underlining challenges in retaining young professionals and skilled labor within Serbia.
