Slovenia’s Culinary Stars Shine in 2025 Michelin Guide

Hiša Franko remains a global gastronomic gem with three Michelin stars and a green nod to sustainability

In the 2025 edition of the prestigious Michelin Guide, Slovenia once again proves it punches well above its weight on the global culinary stage.

Nine Slovenian restaurants earned Michelin stars this year—one fewer than last—but the quality remains exceptional.

Leading the pack, Hiša Franko in Kobarid, helmed by iconic chef Ana Roš, retains its coveted three Michelin stars, joining an elite club of only 153 restaurants worldwide.

Even more impressively, it’s one of just 37 globally to hold both three red stars and a green star for sustainability.

Restaurant Milka in Kranjska Gora, under chef David Žefran, holds firm with two stars, while seven establishments—including COB, Hiša Linhart, Hiša Denk, and Grič—maintain their single-star status.

This year’s guide also introduces new awards: Filip Matjaž of COB named Young Chef, Anže Kristan of Gostilna pri Lojzetu awarded Sommelier of the Year, and Jan Sinčič of Salicornia recognised for Service.

Slovenia’s rise as a sustainable food destination continues, with nine restaurants earning a green star—marking a delicious future rooted in care for the planet.
