Sarajevo Launches Direct Flight to Spain

The new connection marks a milestone for Sarajevo, fostering economic and cultural exchange with Spain

In a groundbreaking move for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo has inaugurated its first direct flight to Spain.

A Ryanair aircraft carrying 55 passengers landed this morning at 08:45 local time at Sarajevo International Airport, ushering in a new era of connectivity between the two nations.

The arrival was met with a celebratory water salute, symbolizing the significance of the moment.

Among those present to greet the inaugural flight were the mayor of Sarajevo, Predrag Puharić, and key figures from the region’s tourism and aviation sectors.

The Spanish delegation included Girona’s provincial president, Miquel Noguer, and senior officials from both Girona’s tourism and Catalonia’s airport authorities.

This new route is a testament to the successful collaboration between Sarajevo’s airport, the Ministry of Economy of the Sarajevo Canton, and the region’s tourism organization.

It signals a growing economic and cultural partnership, promising to bolster tourism and business exchanges between Sarajevo and Spain.
