Lidl Supports Biodiversity at Palić and Ludaš Lakes with Major Donation

A sustainable approach to nature preservation brings life back to Serbia’s threatened wetlands

In a commendable move for environmental conservation, Lidl Serbia has donated 850,000 dinars to the Palić-Ludaš public enterprise, supporting the protection of the delicate ecosystems surrounding Palić and Ludaš Lakes.

The funds will enhance efforts to preserve these vital wetlands by sustaining the grazing of water buffalo and Podolian cattle—natural caretakers vital to the area’s biodiversity.

The region faces the threat of habitat degradation due to excessive vegetation growth, which puts numerous species at risk. Lidl’s donation ensures the survival of these grazing herds during winter months, alongside essential infrastructure maintenance for their welfare.

Since 2015, these herds have been instrumental in restoring native plant and animal species that had disappeared due to land desiccation.

This initiative aligns with Lidl’s commitment to sustainable practices, helping to balance ecological restoration with tourism and local development. In the summer, an additional 700,000 dinars will further bolster eco-tourism education and awareness, ensuring future generations can enjoy this protected natural haven.
