First Wine Museum Opens in Dubrovnik

The historic city of Dubrovnik has added a new gem to its array of cultural attractions with the opening of its first Wine Museum, located in the beautifully preserved 18th-century summer house Pucić

This representative building, situated just outside the city walls near the Pile Gate, now offers visitors a unique journey through the region’s rich winemaking heritage.

The Wine Museum is the brainchild of renowned restaurateurs and respected winemakers from the Dubrovnik-Neretva region, including the famed Pelješac peninsula. This collaborative effort aims to celebrate and showcase the deep cultural roots of the area through its illustrious wine tradition, highlighting indigenous varieties such as Plavac Mali, Dubrovačka Malvasija, Grk, and Pošip.

Visitors to the museum can expect a captivating experience that chronicles the evolution of winemaking from ancient times to the present day. The museum stands as a leading institution in the study and celebration of wine, exploring its timeless appeal and cultural significance.

The exhibits are meticulously curated, featuring artifacts, tools, and documents that narrate the story of Dubrovnik’s winemakers since the era of the Dubrovnik Republic. This thoughtfully designed space not only honors the region’s viticultural legacy but also educates and inspires wine enthusiasts and cultural explorers alike.

As Dubrovnik continues to attract millions of tourists each year, the addition of the Wine Museum provides another compelling reason to visit this historic city, offering a deeper understanding of the local heritage through the lens of its celebrated winemaking tradition.
