Toyota Partners with Croatian Robotics Firm Gideon to Revolutionise Warehouse Automation

Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO) has taken a bold step to expand its global leadership in automation by finalising a strategic investment in Croatian robotics and AI specialist, Gideon

Through this partnership, TICO aims to enhance its automated vehicle systems, with a focus on streamlining processes, faster deployment, and improving flexibility in warehouse and manufacturing automation.

Gideon, renowned for its cutting-edge Autonomous Mobile Robotics (AMR) technology, operates in both Croatia and North America. Its advanced AI algorithms are set to elevate Toyota’s automation capabilities, particularly in trailer loading and unloading, as well as collaborative retail order picking 

TICO’s autonomous vehicle software division, T-Hive, will be integrating Gideon’s technology into its global operations, marking a significant leap forward for Toyota’s automation efforts.

For Gideon, this collaboration offers unparalleled access to Toyota’s vast manufacturing expertise and global service network. CEO Josip Ćesić underscored the importance of the partnership, noting how it combines Toyota’s long-standing legacy in lean manufacturing with Gideon’s innovative robotics technology to create a game-changing proposition for the automation industry.

“This partnership brings together Toyota’s unmatched capacity for quality and innovation in material handling, with Gideon’s state-of-the-art autonomy technology. Together, we will offer groundbreaking solutions for warehouse and manufacturing automation,” said Ćesić.

TICO’s Senior Executive Officer, Norio Wakabayashi, also highlighted the transformative potential of the partnership. “Gideon’s advanced vision modules and intelligent automation will strengthen our leading position in the automated vehicle sector, providing significant value for our customers in the years ahead,” Wakabayashi stated, underscoring TICO’s continued commitment to pioneering market-leading mobile automation solutions.
