Croatian Innovators Win Big at Silicon Valley Invention Festival

Croatian innovators made a remarkable impact at the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival, securing a gold, silver, and bronze medal, along with a special award from the Chinese Association of Innovators

The festival, held in Santa Clara, USA, from July 26 to 28, featured over 400 innovations from 40 countries, underscoring the global significance of the event. The achievements of Croatian innovators were announced by the Croatian Association of Innovators.

The gold medal was awarded to the “Box Barrier” innovation from the Jeltom d.o.o. company. This innovative solution offers a quick and efficient method of flood protection, particularly suited for urban areas

The Mobile Box Barriers are designed to be easily installed, requiring only two people to set up each 75-kilogram unit, thereby eliminating the need for heavy machinery. The barriers come in various shapes, providing flexibility for different site needs. Once the threat of flooding has passed, they can be swiftly disassembled and stored for future use, making them a reliable and reusable defense against high waters.

The silver medal went to the “Sink Pavao” innovation by Egorra d.o.o., a unique creation that showcases the exceptional craftsmanship of Croatian artisans. This designer washbasin is crafted from oak, Croatia’s most prized and high-quality wood. The innovation lies in successfully closing the pores of the wood to make it waterproof, ensuring durability and functionality. The washbasin is paired with a versatile wooden cabinet made from natural materials, suitable for various household uses.

The bronze medal and a special award from the Chinese Association of Innovators were bestowed upon the “Tactile Pendants for the Blind and Partially Sighted” innovation, developed by the Faculty of Graphics in Zagreb. This thoughtful design aims to enhance the accessibility and independence of visually impaired individuals, demonstrating a commitment to inclusivity through innovation.

The festival also saw the enthusiastic support of Santa Clara Mayor Lisa M. Gillmor, who attended the event and expressed particular interest in the Croatian innovations on display.

Croatia’s success at the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival highlights the country’s growing reputation for innovative excellence on the global stage.
