Croatia’s ambition to lead the future of transportation is taking shape with the construction of the region’s first autonomous vehicle production facility in Lučko, near Zagreb.
A collaboration between Verne, a Croatian company focused on urban autonomous mobility, and VGP, a European leader in logistics real estate, this project spans 28,500 square meters within the VGP Park.
The factory is slated to become the cornerstone of the country’s foray into the autonomous vehicle market, with production set to start in 2026.
In an ambitious bid to position itself as a key player in the automotive industry, Verne’s factory will produce electric, self-driving vehicles for export to global markets.
Designed to meet BREEAM Excellent standards and aligned with EU taxonomy, the factory will incorporate cutting-edge technologies to manufacture and test the vehicles, creating up to 400 jobs.
This fully privately funded venture underscores Croatia’s potential as a future hub for green and digital manufacturing.
