Austria’s Palfinger to Build €70 Million Production Facility in Slovenia

Austrian crane and lifting solutions giant Palfinger has announced plans to expand its Slovenian operations with a new €70 million facility in Ormož by 2028.

The Slovenian government is set to contribute up to 30% of the investment.

Palfinger, employing over 12,000 people across 31 global sites, has operated a plant in Maribor since 1993, where around 900 staff are employed. However, with expansion in mind, the company has chosen the Glinokop industrial area on the outskirts of Ormož for a state-of-the-art production site.

A memorandum of understanding was signed on 13 November by Economy Minister Matjaž Han, Ormož Mayor Danijel Vrbnjak, and Palfinger COO Alexander Susanek. The new facility will focus on crane and hoist production, and will include a training center, logistics hub, and paint shop.

Production is expected to begin in 2028, with Palfinger planning to invest over the next four to five years to bring the project to completion.
