AliExpress Logistics Hub Could Be Built in Niš

Plans for an Aliexpress logistics hub in Serbia signal deepening China-Serbia economic cooperation

Niš could become the site of a major Aliexpress logistics hub, according to the city’s mayor, Dragoslav Pavlović, who referenced the possibility during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with officials from Hangzhou, the Chinese city where Alibaba Group is headquartered.

Pavlović reportedly stated that the memorandum builds upon a 2018 letter of intent focused on strengthening the so-called Digital Silk Road, and that it would enable a deeper exchange of knowledge, ideas, and goods between the two cities.

He is said to have emphasised that the agreement opens new avenues for Chinese companies to enter southeastern Serbia and establish their regional presence.

Pavlović added that the planned completion of Niš’s northern industrial zone could provide a base for such firms, calling the cooperation between Serbia and China exceptional.

He reportedly mentioned that one of the ideas discussed was for Alibaba, described as a global e-commerce giant, to construct a logistics centre in Niš, potentially turning the city into a strategic hub for the company’s European operations.
