An Albanians for America (AFA) delegation, comprising Gino Mulliqi, Gezim Rushiti and Janinë Memeti, held a series of high-level meetings with Acting President Albulena Haxhiu, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Deputy Foreign Minister Kreshnik Ahmeti, Minister of Local Government Administration Elbert Krasniqi, and US Chargé d’Affaires Anu Prattipati.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between the institutions of Kosovo* and the Albanian-American community, with participants highlighting the importance of maintaining strong bilateral relations with the United States.
Officials emphasized what they described as the longstanding strategic partnership between Kosovo* and the US, noting that the Albanian-American diaspora has played a significant role over the decades in keeping Kosovo*’s interests on the agenda of the US Congress, successive US administrations and the broader American public.
Participants also discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation with Washington, including continued support for Kosovo*’s aspirations to join Euro-Atlantic and international organizations, as well as advancing its interests in regional and global affairs.
Representatives of Albanians for America reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to continuing its advocacy efforts in Washington through close cooperation with the US Congress, the US administration and other strategic partners, with the aim of further strengthening Kosovo*’s international position.
The meetings reflect the continuing importance of the Albanian-American diaspora in shaping relations between the United States and Kosovo*, with diaspora organizations remaining active advocates for closer political, diplomatic and security cooperation.
