Telecom Sees User Growth and Targets 5G Coverage Expansion

A telecom group reported a 2% increase in mobile users this September, with a notable rise in the Slovenian and Kosovan markets. Slovenia’s user count reached 1.12 million—a 1% uptick—while Kosovo saw a 4% jump to approximately 1.05 million, according to vice-president Boštjan Škufca Zaveršek.

Fixed broadband connections in Slovenia stayed steady at around 372,000, with retail connections slightly up and wholesale connections experiencing a slight decline. Kosovo also saw a 5% decrease in connections.

The company has ambitious plans for its 5G network, aiming for 60% population coverage by year-end and full regulatory coverage by 2025. This comes alongside growth in financial services, eHealth, insurance, IT, and cyber security solutions.

Financially, the group forecasts operating revenue of €699 million and a net profit of €38 million for this year, exceeding initial projections. Looking ahead to 2024, they expect further growth with revenues hitting €717 million, net profits at €43 million, and EBITDA nearing €234 million.

The 2024-2028 strategic plan sets high targets, with annual EBITDA anticipated to reach €280 million and net profit to hit €83 million by 2028, supported by an investment of €951 million.
