New Bar-Bari Ferry Connects Communities and Opportunities

A vital maritime bridge between Montenegro and Italy sails into the high season

Montenegro has launched a new seasonal ferry route linking the coastal city of Bar with the Italian port of Bari, set to operate through early September.

Announced by Minister of Maritime Affairs Filip Radulović, the service marks another stride in the government’s efforts to enhance maritime connectivity and infrastructure.

The route is run in partnership with Croatia’s esteemed ferry operator Jadrolinija, promising not only reliable passenger travel but also improved cargo flow across the Adriatic.

Radulović described the move as a “significant step” for the nation’s economy, tourism, and regional integration.

The Bar-Bari line joins two other recently revived routes—Budva-Dubrovnik and Kotor-Dubrovnik—with another link to Ancona set to launch next week.

These additions are part of a broader maritime revival strategy aimed at transforming Montenegro into a key Adriatic transport hub.

For a country looking to diversify its tourism and trade channels, these ferry lines aren’t just about travel—they’re about unlocking economic potential and connecting Montenegro more firmly with its neighbours.
