Milica Delević to Helm EBRD as New Secretary General

Veteran of diplomacy and reform, Delević brings over a decade of EBRD experience and a deep-rooted commitment to good governance

Milica Delević has been appointed the new Secretary General of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the institution announced today.

She will officially assume the role on 1 August, succeeding Kazuhiko Koguchi, who is set to retire later this year.

Delević, currently the EBRD’s Director for Competitiveness, Governance and Political Affairs, joined the Bank in 2013 and has held senior positions ever since—including Deputy Secretary General and a key leadership role in the Policy and Partnerships department.

A seasoned strategist and advocate for institutional reform, Delević is expected to lead the Bank’s mission engagement with member countries and international institutions, while also overseeing its high-profile Annual Meeting.

Before EBRD, Delević served in the Serbian government, academia, and the civil sector.

Her appointment signals continuity and a steady hand at the helm as the Bank navigates a complex global landscape.
