Zvezdan Martić, the chairman of the management board of Slovenia’s public broadcaster RTV Slovenija, has resigned after serving less than a year, citing a significant loss of trust from the broadcaster’s council members as the primary reason for his departure. Martić’s decision followed a particularly critical session of the RTV Slovenija council on May 28, where he faced a barrage of criticism.
In his resignation letter, Martić expressed concerns about the growing rift between the management board and some council members. “Despite adhering to legal standards in my role, it is clear that I no longer hold the majority’s trust, which has become a hindrance to the broadcaster’s operations,” he stated.
Martić also highlighted ongoing challenges at RTV Slovenija, including what he considers inadequate state funding, which continues to pose difficulties for the broadcaster. He noted, however, that under his brief tenure, the management had significantly improved the situation compared to the legacy of the previous administration.
