Slovenians to Vote on Krško Nuclear Power Plant Expansion in November Referendum

On 24 November, Slovenians will head to the polls to vote in a consultative referendum on the construction of a new unit at the Krško nuclear power station

This decision was endorsed by a bipartisan majority in the National Assembly on 10 October.

Both the government and opposition agree that Slovenia should rely on a combination of nuclear power and renewables to ensure a stable energy supply as the country transitions away from fossil fuels.

The expansion of nuclear capacities is viewed as a critical long-term measure in this process.
