NSRS Elects New Republika Srpska Government

Ruling majority approves new cabinet with five new ministers at special session in Banja Luka

A special session of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska (NSRS) held in Banja Luka on January 18 concluded with the election of a new Government of the Republika Srpska. The session was convened after the previous cabinet returned its mandate, and lawmakers voted on the programme and composition of the new government.

Despite criticism and a boycott by opposition parties, the ruling majority proceeded with the vote and approved the formation of the new cabinet. The newly elected government includes five new ministers, while continuity was maintained in several key portfolios. The prime minister was reappointed, securing the necessary parliamentary support to form the government.

The opposition said it refused to take part in the vote in protest over political and procedural issues, while the ruling coalition described the outcome as necessary to ensure institutional stability and the continued functioning of the Republika Srpska authorities. The session formally ended with the confirmation of the government and the swearing-in of ministers, bringing the process to a close.
