New Socialist Party Enters Slovenia’s Pre-Election Landscape

A new party, We, the Socialists!, led by MP Miha Kordiš, has been officially founded ahead of Slovenia’s 2026 general election.

The party promotes a strongly left-wing, anti-capitalist platform focused on social and climate justice, peace-oriented foreign policy, withdrawal from NATO, and opposition to arms purchases.

Kordiš, expelled from the Left earlier this year, says his new movement aims to represent labour interests, tackle rising living costs, tax large real-estate owners, and prevent healthcare privatisation.

Despite enthusiasm among supporters and more than 600 members, polls place the party below the 4% parliamentary threshold.

Its emergence adds to an increasingly crowded field of new political projects ahead of the 2026 vote, including initiatives by Anže Logar, Karl Erjavec, Marko Lotrič and Vladimir Prebilič.
