Miroslav Lajčak Praises “Insightful Discussion” on Western Balkans EU Integration Path

Miroslav Lajčak, the EU's Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, participated in what he described as a "highly insightful discussion" on the region’s path towards EU integration

The event was organised by Slovenia’s Foreign Minister, Tanja Fajon, who convened ministers and special envoys to address regional challenges and the enlargement process.

Expressing his gratitude on social media platform X, Lajčak thanked Fajon for facilitating the critical conversation, underscoring its importance for the region’s future. The Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also shared the sentiment, with Fajon highlighting that the EU’s enlargement is a “moral, political, and geostrategic imperative.”

“A bigger and stronger EU allows us to have a more powerful influence on the global stage,” read the ministry’s statement.

Lajčak will continue his involvement in the discussion on EU enlargement today, participating in a panel at the Bled Strategic Forum, alongside Serbia’s Minister for European Integration, Tanja Fajon, and US Ambassador to Serbia, Christopher Hill.
