Enghouse Acquires Slovenian Mobility Firm Margento R&D

Enghouse Systems expands its reach by acquiring Margento R&D, the Slovenian leader in mobile payment and transport solutions, marking a significant step in its global strategy

In a bold move to strengthen its footprint in the rapidly evolving world of mobility and digital payments, Canadian software and services titan Enghouse Systems has acquired Margento R&D, a renowned provider based in Maribor.

The acquisition, whose financial details remain undisclosed, signals a major shift in both companies’ business trajectories.

Margento, known for managing Ljubljana’s Urbana city card and providing cutting-edge solutions for transport ticketing, vehicle tracking, and mobile payments, saw a net revenue of €4.5 million in 2023.

Its flagship offerings include the Valu mobile wallet, helping streamline urban transport systems.

CEO Žiga Schmidt expressed excitement about the merger, highlighting the potential to expand Margento’s reach through Enghouse’s vast network.

The Canadian firm, with revenues exceeding €500 million, is poised to leverage this acquisition to drive further growth in the mobility tech sector, fostering synergies that will reshape the landscape of digital payments across Europe.
