€200 Million Pical Resort to Redefine Tourism in Poreč by 2026

Luxury meets sustainability in Croatia’s most ambitious tourism investment to date.

The €200 million Pical 5-star Resort, currently under construction in Poreč, is being hailed as Croatia’s most ambitious tourism project and a model of sustainable destination development. Set to open in spring 2026, the resort aims to transform the Istrian city into a year-round destination with new promenades, beaches, sports facilities, and public spaces open to both locals and tourists.

Developed by Valamar, the resort will include 514 luxury units, 11 restaurants, 10 bars, Istria’s largest congress centre, and Croatia’s first ESPA spa.

It will also host collaborations with top chefs, including Ana Roš and Italy’s Matteo Metullio. Around 80% of all food and drink will be sourced locally.

Designed as an open and inclusive space, Pical 5* will feature public pools and recreation areas accessible to the local community. Croatia’s Tourism Minister Tonči Glavina called it a “game changer” for sustainable tourism, while Valamar CEO Željko Kukurin said the project will “set new standards for responsible tourism and community integration.”
