Croatian Motorways (HAC) has received approval for the extensive Zagreb ring road project, a significant infrastructure development estimated to cost at least 335 million euros. The project involves the reconstruction and expansion of the third lane on the Zagreb ring road, which experiences the highest daily traffic in Croatia.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition decided that an environmental impact assessment was unnecessary for this project, as detailed analyses showed no significant negative impact on the environment. This decision clears the way for HAC to proceed with implementing proper environmental protection measures and monitoring programs to ensure sustainability throughout the project.
This approval marks a critical step forward in enhancing the road infrastructure around Zagreb, aiming to improve traffic flow and accommodate the growing number of vehicles. The project is part of a broader initiative to upgrade Croatia’s road network, ensuring better connectivity and supporting economic growth.
