Montenegro and France Sign Key Agreements for Environmental and Energy Reforms

Montenegro and France have partnered to advance environmental reforms and energy sustainability

Montenegro has secured a EUR 50 million loan and a EUR 950,000 grant from France to support environmental protection policies and enhance its electricity transmission system.

The loan agreement, signed between Montenegro’s Ministry of Finance and Agence Française de Développement (AFD), focuses on reforms in waste management, renewable energy, sustainable forestry, and climate action.

The agreement marks a significant step in Montenegro’s sustainable development efforts, with the goal of reducing pollution, promoting clean energy, and boosting climate resilience. The signing ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and French Ambassador Anne-Marie Maskay, also includes technical assistance from AFD to strengthen Montenegro’s capacity in energy and waste management.

This partnership will support critical reforms in key sectors, aiming to improve environmental and energy policies while fostering long-term sustainability for Montenegro.
