The Danish-owned company Kentaur Balkans has abruptly closed its factory in Vranje, Serbia, leaving around 250 workers without jobs. Employees were prevented from entering the premises on Saturday morning and received the news through a printed notice lacking both a signature and a company stamp.
The notice stated that the factory’s closure would be carried out through a liquidation process. It assured workers that their salaries and all financial compensations, including pay for October and unused vacation days, would be settled. Workers were also informed that they are entitled to unemployment benefits from the National Employment Service for up to two years. The company announced that employees could collect their personal belongings the following day.
