AJet Launches Direct Flights from Istanbul to Mostar

Historic ties take flight as Mostar and Istanbul bridge cultures through tourism

AJet will begin direct flights between Istanbul and Mostar on 4 June, a move warmly received during a visit by a Turkish delegation of tour operators, journalists, and businesspeople.

Mostar’s mayor, Mario Kordić, reportedly emphasised the deep historical ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey, saying the city was committed to strengthening cooperation and becoming a leading tourist hub.

He was said to have highlighted the Turkish consulate in Mostar as a symbol of enduring friendship.

Turkey’s Consul General Fatih Ekinci reportedly noted Mostar’s growing popularity among Turkish travellers and saw strong potential for further tourism cooperation.

Elvira Ćemalović from Mostar’s tourist board was quoted as saying that the new flights would revitalise tourism, especially with media support.

Airport director Marko Đuzel reportedly expressed excitement ahead of the launch.

Journalist Sinan Burhan was said to have praised Mostar’s cultural richness and pledged to promote it through Turkish media.

The delegation also toured the airport and heritage sites in Blagaj and Počitelj, aiming to deepen ties between the regions.
