The Ocean Race Europe Heads for Boka Bay

Final leg begins in Genoa, with Montenegro preparing a grand welcome

On 7 September, the fleet of The Ocean Race Europe set sail from Genoa on its seventh and final leg—a gruelling 1,600-nautical-mile route toward Boka Bay in Montenegro. With Biotherm in the provisional lead, the crews face shifting winds and tactical challenges as they push for the finish.

Montenegro’s Maritime Minister Filip Radulović, present in Genoa, promised a warm Adriatic welcome for the competitors.

The event marks one of the most significant sporting occasions ever hosted by Montenegro, spotlighting the country on the global sailing map.

The Ocean Race has long been considered one of the toughest tests in sport. Its arrival in Boka Bay is more than a ceremonial finish—it’s an opportunity for the Adriatic to showcase its maritime potential, blending natural beauty with world-class competition.
