NLB Skladi Expands into North Macedonia with Acquisition of Generali Investments Skopje

NLB Skladi has expanded its footprint into the North Macedonian market by acquiring Generali Investments Skopje, the third-largest asset management firm in the country

NLB Skladi, Slovenia’s largest mutual fund management company, has announced the completion of its acquisition of Generali Investments Skopje, marking a significant expansion into the North Macedonian market. The deal positions NLB Skladi as a major player in the region, with Generali Investments Skopje being the third largest asset management company in North Macedonia.

NLB Skladi’s CEO, Luka Podlogar, and NLB bank’s CEO, Blaž Brodnjak, emphasized the strategic importance of North Macedonia to the NLB Group, citing the strong existing presence of NLB Banka Skopje in the country. Brodnjak noted the acquisition as a key part of NLB’s growth strategy, adding asset management services to their portfolio in North Macedonia, where they already launched a leasing company in late 2022.

Melita Rajgelj Ozebek, CEO of Generali Investments Slovenia, expressed her satisfaction that the Skopje-based company would continue to provide quality asset management services under the NLB Group umbrella. Generali Investments Skopje currently manages approximately EUR 48 million in assets across four investment funds and employs 10 people.

This move is seen as a continuation of NLB’s efforts to strengthen its market position and expand its range of financial services in the region.
