In the sun-drenched coastal town of Budva this May, Montenegro’s most pressing political and economic ambition—EU membership—will take centre stage at MICEB 2025, the Second International Conference on Economics and Business.
Hosted by the University of Montenegro’s Faculty of Economics from 29–31 May, the event assembles an extraordinary lineup of thought leaders tackling the question: how can sustainable economies pave the path to Europe?
Headlining is James A. Robinson, University of Chicago professor and 2024 Nobel laureate, honoured alongside Daron Acemoglu and Simon Johnson for groundbreaking research into the power of institutions to shape prosperity.
Joining him are elite voices from Slovenia’s financial and energy sectors, including NLB’s Blaž Brodnjak and ELES’s Aleksander Mervar, as well as Central Bank Governor Irena Radović.
With 80 research papers from 19 countries and panels exploring green transition, inclusive finance, and business transformation through EU funds, MICEB 2025 promises to be a pivotal forum for reimagining Montenegro’s future—and that of the entire Western Balkans.
