FIFA has fined the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina CHF 21,000 (about USD 26,000) for fan misbehavior during a June 2026 World Cup qualifier against San Marino. The sanction covers inappropriate chants and the throwing of objects from the stands.
It is not the first time Bosnia’s football community has been hit with fines, and the repeated offenses highlight ongoing challenges in crowd management.
UEFA and FIFA have both stressed that national associations are responsible for ensuring safe and respectful conduct in stadiums.
Beyond finances, the reputational cost is heavy. Bosnia and Herzegovina is working to strengthen its international football standing, with hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. Persistent disciplinary issues risk overshadowing on-field performance, sending a warning to the federation that discipline in the stands is as crucial as discipline on the pitch.
