Agri Europe Acquires Majority Stake in Montenegro’s Hipotekarna Banka

Agri Europe Cyprus acquires a 74.93% majority stake in Montenegro's Hipotekarna Banka, marking a strategic expansion into Southeast Europe

Agri Europe Cyprus, a subsidiary of MK Group, has signed an agreement to acquire 7,677,285 shares in Hipotekarna Banka, representing a 74.93% stake, at a price of €9.77 per share.

The transaction is subject to approval by the Central Bank of Montenegro and other regulatory bodies. Following this, Agri Europe Cyprus intends to launch a mandatory public offer for the remaining shares, in accordance with Montenegrin legislation.

A leading financial group managing banks in the region, such as AIK Bank, Eurobank Direktna, and Gorenjska Banka, Agri Europe Cyprus boasts assets of €8.5 billion and a strong portfolio of loans and deposits as of 30 September 2024. This acquisition marks a strategic step in its expansion into Southeast Europe.
