On 27 August 2026, award-winning contemporary artist Tamara Andjus opened her solo exhibition TERRA, MARE at The Chedi Lustica Bay, where she is the 5th Artist in Residence. The exhibition remains on view until mid-October 2026.
After building an international career and exhibiting in major art destinations worldwide, Andjus presents her first solo exhibition in Montenegro – a country deeply connected to her roots and identity.
For the artist, TERRA, MARE is more than a new body of work. It brings together the international experiences that shaped her artistic language with the landscape, light and spirit of Montenegro that have always remained part of her.
A distinctive feature is a new series of golf paintings inspired by the Lustica Bay golf course. Viewed from above, the meeting of vivid green terrain, dramatic coastline and the blue Adriatic became a powerful source of inspiration. Golf serves not simply as a sporting motif, but as a way to explore movement and stillness, discipline and freedom, and the relationship between the human figure and the surrounding landscape.
“Presenting my first solo exhibition in Montenegro gave me an enormous sense of pride, but also a great feeling of responsibility. After exhibiting my work internationally for many years, coming here with TERRA, MARE felt completely different. I wasn’t simply presenting my paintings – I felt that I was bringing a part of my artistic journey back to where my roots are.
Standing there on the opening night, surrounded by my work, the landscape that inspired it and so many people who came to share this moment with me, I felt an incredible sense of accomplishment. It was emotional to realise how far my journey has taken me, and at the same time to feel that, in a way, it had brought me home. For an artist, there are exhibitions you are proud of professionally, and then there are those that become part of your personal story. TERRA, MARE is both for me.”
The title reflects this connection: Terra represents land, roots, memory and identity, while Mare evokes movement, encounters and transformation – two elements that define both the Mediterranean landscape and the exhibition’s emotional foundation.
Andjus expressed her gratitude to Artro Gallery and curator Kristina Kestner for their trust and vision, and to Artico Gallery for professionally preparing the paintings for the exhibition.
