Could Primark Enter Croatian Market in 2027?

International fashion retailer Primark is set to enter the Croatian market in 2027, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion across Central and Southeast Europe and bringing one of Europe’s most recognizable value fashion brands to Croatian consumers.

According to company announcements, Primark plans to open its first stores in Croatia during 2027, continuing its strategy of expanding into new European markets. The retailer, known for offering affordable fashion, homeware and lifestyle products, has experienced rapid growth in recent years and now operates hundreds of stores across Europe and the United States.

Croatia’s inclusion in Primark’s expansion reflects the country’s growing attractiveness for international retailers, supported by rising consumer spending, increasing tourism and continued integration into the European single market following its accession to the Schengen Area and the Eurozone.

For Croatian consumers, Primark’s arrival will introduce greater competition within the fashion retail sector, joining international brands already present in the country. Increased competition is expected to provide shoppers with a broader range of products while encouraging retailers to compete more aggressively on pricing and customer experience.

The expansion also represents another vote of confidence in Croatia’s retail market. In recent years, the country has attracted a growing number of international brands, reflecting improving economic indicators, stronger purchasing power and sustained investment in modern shopping centres.

Beyond Croatia, Primark’s continued expansion demonstrates how international retailers are increasingly viewing Central and Southeast Europe as an important growth market. Rising disposable incomes, urban development and changing consumer habits have made the region an increasingly attractive destination for global retail investment.

While the opening of Primark stores is expected to generate new employment opportunities and increase competition, it also highlights a broader trend shaping the region’s economies—the continued arrival of major international brands that were once primarily concentrated in Western European markets. For Croatia, Primark’s entry represents another sign of the country’s growing integration into Europe’s retail and consumer landscape.
