Speaking at the 11th OSCE South-East Europe Media Conference in Tirana, representatives of Albania emphasized the country’s commitment to protecting journalists, strengthening media pluralism and aligning with European standards as part of the EU accession process. The conference was held under the theme “Strengthening Journalism as a Public Good.”
Officials noted that the media environment has become increasingly complex due to disinformation, political polarization and rapidly evolving digital platforms, making the protection of independent and professional journalism more important than ever.
They stressed that safer conditions for journalists and media professionals are essential for stronger democratic institutions, greater public trust and more resilient societies.
Albania also highlighted the importance of continued cooperation with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and international partners in supporting a freer, safer and more sustainable media landscape across Southeast Europe.
