Montenegro Invests Over €150M In Road Infrastructure Projects

Major highway works led by Tivat–Jaz boulevard aim to ease coastal traffic

Montenegro is intensifying investments in road infrastructure, with projects worth more than €150 million currently underway, led by the construction of the Tivat–Jaz boulevard—one of the country’s largest ongoing transport projects.

According to Radomir Vuksanović, works include the construction and reconstruction of key roads, bridges and landslide repairs across the country.

Major projects feature the Tivat–Jaz and Vojislavljević boulevards, reconstruction of the Đurđevića Tara bridge, and upgrades on routes such as Nikšić–Plužine and regional connections in the north and central regions.

The Tivat–Jaz section, although delayed due to technical complexity, is expected to be asphalted before the summer tourist season, significantly reducing congestion between BudvaKotor and Tivat. At the same time, authorities are investing in road safety through improved signaling, tunnel lighting and rehabilitation of critical points, while long-term plans focus on modernising the network, strengthening north–south connectivity and aligning infrastructure with EU standards.
