Croatian engineering group Končar and Germany’s Siemens Energy have announced plans to build a new transformer manufacturing facility in Croatia, marking a significant boost for the country’s industrial and energy sectors. The factory will focus on the production of large power transformers, a critical component for electricity transmission and energy infrastructure across Europe.
The project comes at a time of growing demand for grid expansion and modernization, driven by the energy transition and increased investment in renewables.
By expanding domestic production capacity, the new plant is expected to enhance supply security, shorten delivery times and position Croatia as an increasingly important hub in the regional and EU energy market.
Beyond its strategic importance, the investment is set to create new high-skilled jobs and deepen cooperation between Croatian industry and leading global energy players. Government officials and company representatives alike have highlighted the factory as a long-term contribution to economic growth, technological development and Croatia’s integration into key European value chains.
