Slovenia Reaches Out to Bosnian Workers with Competitive Wages and Benefits

Slovenia’s labour market is turning to Bosnia and Herzegovina to help meet its workforce demands

In a bid to address labour shortages, Slovenia has set its sights on workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, where approximately 15,000 work permits are issued annually for Bosnian nationals. With a starting net wage of €980, Bosnian employees in Slovenia benefit from full health and social protection under a bilateral agreement that equates their entitlements with those of domestic workers.

At an informational event organized by the Slovenian Employment Service and the Slovenian Embassy in Bosnia, job seekers from Bosnia had the opportunity to connect with 56 Slovenian employers, who collectively employ nearly 19,000 workers.

The highest demand is in healthcare, social services, transport, warehousing, and construction—key sectors where Slovenia faces ongoing labour shortages. The event marks the beginning of a series of recruitment initiatives aimed at fostering cross-border employment.
