Radovljica Museum Opens Deposit of Rare Beekeeping Artifacts

Radovljica Beekeeping Museum Opens Exclusive 'Viewing Deposit' to Showcase Rare Artifacts

The Beekeeping Museum in Radovljica has recently unveiled its new “viewing deposit,” a specialized exhibition space offering visitors a rare glimpse into its extensive collection of artifacts previously unavailable to the public.

Among the items on display are beehives, beekeeping tools, souvenirs, artistic and traditional treasures, as well as medals and honeybread products. This new facility ensures the safe preservation of these objects while providing public access.

Curator Kristina Seljak emphasized the significance of the painted bee panels, the oldest of which dates back to 1758.

The four-year project, funded by the Municipality of Radovljica and the Ministry of Culture, has transformed the museum housed in a baroque villa into a key destination for beekeeping enthusiasts and experts worldwide. With approximately 30,000 visitors annually, the museum serves as an essential platform for advancing research on beekeeping and educating the public on the vital role of bees and their protection.
