Porsche to Launch New Battery Factory in Sveta Nedelja

Sveta Nedelja, once a hub for Rimac Automobili, is set to become a key site in Porsche’s electric bicycle future, with a new battery production facility opening next year

In a significant step towards revolutionising electric mobility, Porsche has chosen Sveta Nedelja, a town near Zagreb, for a state-of-the-art battery factory.

This development marks a new phase for the German automaker’s eBike division and underscores Croatia’s growing prominence in the electric vehicle sector.

Once home to Rimac Automobili and Greyp Bikes, the region is now set to become a cornerstone of Porsche’s plans, as they aim to produce batteries for their electric bicycles.

Scheduled for completion next year, the factory will span 2,000 square meters and will focus on in-house battery production—critical for Porsche’s eBike Performance division.

However, while the battery operations will be Croatian-based, the motors and transmissions will be manufactured in Germany.

This collaboration follows the earlier merger between Porsche and Rimac, enhancing both companies’ ambitions in the electric mobility market.

As Dr. Alexander Wunsch, Porsche’s finance director, explains, “Comprehensive quality control and production reliability were key in this decision.”

This factory is not only a leap for Porsche but a significant milestone for Croatia’s role in the global shift towards electric transportation.
