UAE’s e& to Expand Serbia’s Kragujevac Data Centre

Strategic Gulf–Serbia partnership set to power AI, smart cities and digital growth

The UAE’s Emirates Telecommunication Group Company (e&), one of the world’s largest telecom operators, is stepping into Serbia’s digital future. The company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Serbian government to use—and expand—the state data centre in Kragujevac, a facility already home to global players like Oracle, IBM, and Huawei.

Through its digital transformation arm, e& enterprise, the group plans to invest in new equipment, cutting-edge services, and technologies that will accelerate Serbia’s ambitions in the green economy, smart cities, and AI development.

Mihailo Jovanović, head of Serbia’s Office for IT and eGovernment, highlighted that the UAE company is also ready to support the local startup ecosystem, with a strong focus on innovation and knowledge transfer.

The Kragujevac data centre, built in 2020 at a cost of €30 million, has quickly become a cornerstone of Serbia’s digital infrastructure. With supercomputers already in place—and more on the way—the partnership with e& could firmly position Serbia as a regional hub for advanced digital solutions, bridging the Adriatic with the Middle East and beyond.
