Tear Gas and Defiance in Novi Sad

Protests demand change as state response hardens

Novi Sad became the epicentre of political unrest as police clashed with demonstrators demanding snap elections and the resignation of President Aleksandar Vučić.

Security forces used tear gas and stun grenades to disperse the crowd, leading to arrests and injuries. Protesters, however, vowed to continue their demonstrations, framing them as a fight for accountability and change.

The intensity of the crackdown reflects Serbia’s deepening political divide and growing tensions between the state and its critics. With protests spreading and pressure mounting, the events in Novi Sad may mark a turning point in the country’s political trajectory.
